AIMHI Professional Development programme for social workers, community liaison officers, youth workers and other social support workers in schools
March-31-08 The AIMHI Centre is pleased to offer a one year professional group supervision and mentoring programme for social workers, community liaison officers and youth workers working in schools. The 2008 programme will build on a pilot programme that took place in 2007 with participants from across all the AIMHI schools located in Auckland.
The programme aims to:
• Enable practitioners to gain a sense of ‘place’ within the school system working alongside other professionals
• Enhance their understanding of the broader academic and professional responsibilities of their role, grounded in the schools’ strategic direction and educational outcomes of the students they work with
• Address common issues of professional practice
• Provide opportunities for participants to reflect on their practice and examine their professional roles
• Encourage and promote future career planning
Participants learn from each other as they explore the challenges that each of them face and extend their professional networks across the schools and in the community.
