AIMHI PD programme: Literacy Learning for Pasifika Bilingual Teacher Aides in secondary schools
July-04-08 Here is a great opportunity to develop and enhance the skills of Pasifika bilingual teacher aides to provide literacy support in your secondary school classrooms.
The AIMHI Centre in association with the Ministry of Education is pleased to offer this programme which will pilot the development of a learning and development resource aimed at Pasifika bilingual teacher aides working in secondary schools.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
We are looking for a minimum of two Pasifika bilingual teacher aides from your school as well as a nominated coordinating teacher to join the programme. The teacher aides will attend four full day workshops. They will be observed in classrooms in participating schools by the programme facilitator.
The coordinating teachers will champion this development in your school and attend two of these workshops.
HOW MUCH?
For each teacher aide participant: $500.00
Minimum 18 participants – maximum 9 schools
This also includes:
• two days’ teacher release per school with two participating teacher aides @ $250 per day – tthis is intended to cover the cost for the coordinating teachers to attend two workshop days.
• course materials, photocopying, catering – morning / afternoon teas and light lunches only
